Stacey A. Oziel

Stacey Oziel is a senior technology and commercial attorney with more than 18 years of experience advising a wide array of clients including Fortune 50 and 100 companies. She has built her career supporting global businesses through complex SaaS, data, and technology transactions, with a track record of delivering pragmatic, business-focused solutions in high-stakes environments.  Stacey focuses on handling all types of complex technology transactions, including software development and licensing transactions and SaaS agreements. She also advises on technology-related issues for mergers and acquisitions, data licensing, and privacy issues, and handles many other types of commercial agreements and transactions.

Ms. Oziel began her career in Silicon Valley, initially joining Sun Microsystems as in-house counsel, where she advised on software, hardware, and open-source licensing. Following Oracle’s acquisition of Sun, she joined Ziff Davis (then j2 Global), where she served as one of four attorneys supporting the company worldwide, handling commercial SaaS agreements, technology transactions, M&A due diligence, and dispute resolution.

Following her stint at Ziff Davis, Ms. Oziel joined 20th Century Fox's legal team, where she led negotiations on mission-critical enterprise SaaS and technology deals, and advised Fox’s Home Entertainment division on data licensing, promotional and content licensing deals, and emerging technology initiatives.

Ms. Oziel transitioned to The Walt Disney Company's legal department upon Disney’s acquisition of Fox, where she spent over five years negotiating critical provisions in some of Disney's most strategically important distribution agreements with top-tier global partners. She also provided counsel to Disney's Platform Distribution Operations team on sophisticated data licensing and technology matters that supported its digital transformation.

Following her departure from Disney, Stacey joined Zarren Law Group as Of Counsel, where she enjoys supporting high-growth clients across a broad range of industries. 

Ms. Oziel is a member of the State Bar of California. She holds a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), and a B.A. with High Honors from UC Berkeley.  Stacey lives in Los Angeles, California, where she was also born and raised.
