Shane N. Segarra

Shane is an experienced corporate and commercial attorney who advises entrepreneurs, business owners, executives, investors, and companies on complex business transactions and strategic matters throughout the business life cycle. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity and debt offerings, securities compliance, corporate governance, and strategic joint ventures. He represents businesses across a broad range of industries, including finance, technology, real estate, banking, aerospace, engineering, media, gaming and hospitality, and consumer products, amongst others. His experience also includes advising businesses operating as real estate investment trusts (REITs) and special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs). Throughout his career, Shane has advised on dozens of transactions involving billions of dollars in aggregate value. He brings a practical, business-oriented approach to solving complex legal issues and helping clients achieve their strategic objectives.

Prior to joining ZLG, Shane was a partner in the corporate group at Holland & Knight LLP. He previously practiced at Akerman LLP. Before attending law school, Shane worked as a computer programmer and for a U.S. Senator in Washington, D.C.

Shane received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he participated in the Entrepreneurship Clinic.  He also received a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and executive education programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology focused on applied artificial intelligence and environmental sustainability in business.

After living and working in Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., and New York City, Shane resides in South Florida with his wife, two sons, and dog. Outside of his practice, he enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time in nature, and exploring national parks, museums, stadiums, and other cultural attractions. He is also an avid sports enthusiast.
